Over the past 24 years, the Governors Club has maintained a long-standing commitment to its Members and guests by providing the highest quality Club amenities and service in West Palm Beach. The future of your Club is changing and we want to inform you about the new path that the Club will take.
After many meetings and negotiations, a decision was made by the Phillips Point Building Ownership to transfer ownership of the Governors Club to Flagler Systems Inc., the owner and operator of the prestigious Breakers Hotel, and The Breakers West. The Governors Club will continue to have regular operating hours until Friday July 5. Post that date, Flagler Systems Inc. will commence a renovation of the Club Quarters as a private Club.
Your membership privileges will not be interrupted during this transition. The “new” Club will maintain an affiliate Club relationship within the ClubCorp family so your Society and Signature Gold benefits will be maintained as long as you remain a Member in good standing. During the renovation period you will not be charged base dues, you will only be responsible for paying your signature gold and society dues. Additional details concerning what local benefits will be extended to you during this time and an introduction of the plans related to the new Club will be sent to you under separate cover from the Breakers in the coming days.
Your current Governors Membership card will be honored at ClubCorp Associate Clubs and resorts that you have enjoyed for many years until your new cards are issued from the new Club and the new cards will be honored once the new Club issues them.
Should you elect not to remain as a Member of the “new” Club you will have the option to relocate your current Governors Club membership to The Tower Club in Ft. Lauderdale or Monarch Country Club in Palm City. Both locations will honor your current monthly dues in a resident social category through year end and will waive their customary initiation fee. If you are interested in pursuing a Membership in either of these 2 locations please call Charles Contesa in the Governors Club office no later than July 3rd, 2008.
If you are a Life Member of The Governors Club you will given the opportunity to relocate your Life Membership one time to another participating Business/Sports Club in the ClubCorp family and your Life Membership dues free status will be protected. You will be sent a separate communication regarding this offer.

We also extend our thanks and heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff of the Governors Club for their thoughtful and professional service throughout the Club’s history.
